Record Number of Supporters Attend Annual DinnerOn a very rainy Friday night last November, we celebrated a kaleidoscope of people, programs and communities with 400 people at our 4th Annual Connecting with Community Benefit Dinner-almost twice as many attendees as in years past. James Whitfield, community advocate and former US Department HHS Regional Director, recognized the important work we do and Julia Patterson, King County Councilmember, spoke of her ties to us through her hometown of SeaTac. Special "HealthPoint Hero Awards" were presented to Jayne Leet, former CEO of HealthPoint, and Colleen Brandt-Schluter, City of SeaTac Human Services Coordinator, for advocacy on behalf of HealthPoint. The Tyee High School Jazz Band provided a wonderful mix of old and new tunes to start the evening off. We are happy to report that the dinner raised over $75,000 thanks to many new as well as old friends who share our values, concerns, passion and commitment for our work. We were fortunate to have one of our patients speak on behalf of HealthPoint patients. Robin was eloquent and articulate as she talked about how her life unraveled over the past two years and how she found herself in a position to ask for help for the first time. She spoke of the fear that comes with not knowing where you will go for much needed health care for yourself and your child. After that, we all seconded her statement, "Having HealthPoint in our community brings peace of mind". Thank you to our sponsors. We couldn't make this event happen without their generous support.
