Family Medicine Residency Program

HealthPoint residents benefit from a three-year longitudinal curriculum in osteopathy as well as from the integration of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine into the primary care office and inpatient settings.

 

Year 1

  • Internal Medicine/Family Medicine Service (FMS) 8 weeks
  • Critical Care (ICU) 4 weeks – 1.5 days/week continuity clinic
  • Emergency Medicine (ER) 4 weeks – 1 day/week continuity clinic
  • OB/GYN (OB) 4 weeks - 1⁄2 day/week continuity clinic
  • Pediatrics (PEDS AMBU) 4 weeks - 3 days/week continuity clinic
  • General Surgery (GEN SURG) 4 weeks - 2 days/week continuity clinic 
  • Ophthalmology and ENT (ENT/OPTHO) 2 weeks each - 2 days/week continuity clinic 
  • Community Oriented Primary Care* (COPC) 12 weeks
  • Elective 4 weeks (see sample electives below)

  • General Surgery (Derm) 4 weeks
  • Urology (Uro) 4 weeks
  • Elec ve 8 weeks (see sample elec ves below)
  • Community Oriented Primary Care* (COPC) 12 weeks

  • Pediatric Elec ve (Peds Elective) 4 weeks
  • Internal medicine (outpatient—IM) 4 weeks

  • Community Oriented Primary Care* (COPC) 12 weeks

*Community Oriented Primary Care will primarily consist of continuity clinic but also include 100 hours of geriatrics, 20 hours of practice management, and will include a behavioral health component.

Didactics occur each week and will include 3 hours via distance learning activities through the Wright Center and 2 hours per week of local didactics taught by our faculty and guests speakers.

R1s—3 weeks vacation
R2s & R3s—3 weeks vacation & 1 week CME
