For Brianne Taylor, helping people has always been more than a career goal. It is a calling shaped by personal experience, community connection, and a belief that everyone deserves access to care.
As a child, Brianne experienced compassionate care from health providers whose kindness left a lasting impression. Those early experiences inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to supporting others. Her passion for community health deepened as a young adult while teaching classes at El Centro de la Raza and during an internship with the International Rescue Committee.
Along the way, Brianne learned an important lesson about creating meaningful change.
“When I traveled to South Sudan and Haiti as an individual provider or part of a very small team focused on medical care only, this was really a drop in the bucket of need,” Brianne shared. “When I was able to plug my efforts into a larger team and a more sustainable system, patients did better and I felt better about my contribution.”
That belief in community-driven, sustainable care led her to HealthPoint.
“HealthPoint seemed like the right fit for me, and I feel fortunate that they thought the same,” said Brianne. “My daily work is advocacy. Like many staff and providers at our School-Based Health Centers, I'm willing to go beyond the usual clinic setting and role to help patients get the care they need, regardless of the barriers they face.”

For Brianne, school-based health care is more than treating illness. It is about meeting students where they are, building trust, and empowering them to take an active role in their health.
By being part of the school community, HealthPoint's School-Based Health Centers create opportunities to connect with students in ways traditional care settings often can’t. Through HealthPoint’s integrated care model, providers can support students across every aspect of their health journey while reducing barriers that might otherwise prevent them from accessing care.
Years after receiving care at a HealthPoint School-Based Health Center, a former student returned to share how those conversations and connections had shaped her future.
“She acknowledged it was helpful to have someone to talk to about health concerns within the school setting,” Brianne recalled. “It positively impacted her life and educational trajectory, as well as that of other students. School-Based Health Centers are like training wheels for self-advocacy and health system navigation.”
The impact extends far beyond individual students. Healthy students are more engaged in school, better prepared to learn, and more likely to graduate.
That is why Brianne and other HealthPoint providers are so passionate about the work they do.
Every day, HealthPoint's School-Based Health Centers help remove barriers to care, strengthen partnerships with schools, and empower young people to advocate for their own health and well-being. By investing in students today, they are helping build healthier, stronger communities for the future.
