For Brooke Biglow, a nurse practitioner at HealthPoint’s SeaTac Clinic, culturally responsive care begins with listening. She takes time to understand each patient’s background, experiences, and how those factors shape their approach to health care.

“My role is to provide guidance, share evidence-based recommendations, and ensure that each patient’s values and preferences remain at the center of their care,” Brooke says. “This helps build trust and creates a sense of safety from the very beginning.”
Brooke has been part of HealthPoint since 2020, drawn to its commitment to whole person care and reducing barriers to access. That approach allows her to support patients in ways traditional health care often cannot.
Working closely with the refugee community, Brooke focuses on creating an environment where patients feel welcomed, respected, and empowered to partner in their care. She recalls one patient who had concerns about diabetes medication after hearing from family that it could harm their kidneys.

“When we talked more, I understood where their fear was coming from,” Brooke shares. “We reviewed the options together, and ultimately they felt comfortable continuing the medication.”
Experiences like this reinforce Brooke’s belief that many challenges in care can be addressed through understanding, communication, and partnership.
By meeting patients where they are and supporting them over time, Brooke sees small, steady changes lead to meaningful improvements in health.
