Community voices need to be heard, they’re the ones that make change possible. Medical Assistant, Isabel Soledad knows, “Advocacy is often seen only as those loud voices. However, those who are behind the loud advocate and are unseen are the same who make the lasting changes in others.”
As a health advocate for her family, Isabel’s child’s diagnosis of Autism has made an impact on her life; moving her towards her professional and personal goals. The words, “providing access to all” really resonated with her when reading HealthPoint’s mission and saw the organization as a chance for a new beginning filled with hope and representation. Isabel hopes that her unique perspective in Autism will support patients and their families from the same community.
Isabel is often described as a testament to perseverance and having an unwavering commitment to growth. She attributes her work ethic to her family and faith. “I am the person I have achieved to be because I have seen my mother’s strength and hard work through those years, we were in Mexico to make sure my brothers and I didn’t lack anything necessary. I also know the hard work my dad has done to be away from us and work hard in this country to be able to financially care for us. It is their unwavering strength, work ethic and their love that have made everything possible for me” Isabel shared.
Isabel has felt completely supported by HealthPoint in her professional journey since the beginning. She recalls, “Being able to do my externship here with my team during pandemic times was something to look back on. It was not easy to juggle both with every single Medical Assistant that was part of my training and growth made this transition easier and enjoyable. I have a talented team, who are incredibly supportive and there for each other.” Every milestone in Isabel’s professional journey, from earning degrees in Youth and Childhood Development to working at HealthPoint for her externship as a Medical Assistant, is a step closer to her goal of becoming a provider in the ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) field helping families on the spectrum.
