The Seattle Times: Thousands in WA lose Apple Health coverage as Trump’s changes take effect

Changes to Apple Health (Medicaid) eligibility associated with H.R. 1 will make it harder for refugees, asylum-seekers and other lawful immigrants in Washington to maintain health coverage and stay connected to primary care. The Seattle Times spoke with HealthPoint about the impact of these changes in King County, where we anticipate ~1,600 patients could lose coverage.

HealthPoint is working proactively to help patients understand their options and continue receiving the care they need to remain healthy, support their families, and participate in their communities. Clinic staff have and are continuing to schedule appointments with impacted patients to discuss coverage changes and their health care options.

HealthPoint remains committed to providing integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, and supportive services to King County communities, regardless of circumstance or ability to pay. As coverage changes take effect, our priority is helping patients understand their options and remain connected to the care that keeps families and communities healthy.

The new eligibility changes may impact refugees, asylum-seekers and other lawful immigrants in Washington. If you are a HealthPoint patient and are concerned about the impact this could have on your coverage, call our Health Insurance Navigator team at 425-204-3910.
