Health Centers: Rooted in Communities

National Health Center Week is an opportunity to celebrate the work we do every day, and reflect on the value that community health centers (CHCs) like HealthPoint bring to our communities.

As part of the celebration, we hosted a visit from U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene (District 1) at HealthPoint Redmond.

U.S Representative Adam Smith (District 9) also joined us for a celebration at HealthPoint Federal Way.

This year, the theme of National Health Center Week was “Health Centers: Rooted in Communities.” Across HealthPoint clinics, our trees have been growing leaves with messages from staff and patients saying why they #ValueCHCs.

CHCs are on the front lines addressing the most important issues in our communities. Staff at CHCs work every day to fight the opioid crisis, support mental health, and care for people experiencing homelessness.

The numbers speak for themselves.

  • Over 1 million patients call a CHC in Washington their health care home
  • 60% of Washington CHC patients live below the federal poverty level
  • 16% of CHC patients in Washington are uninsured, and health centers are often their only option for affordable care

CHCs have received enormous support from our Members of Congress.  We need legislators to lead again to ensure that health centers can continue to help those who need it most. We ask our Members of Congress to act before the September budget deadline to ensure that continued, stable funding is available to CHCs.
