Caring During COVID-19: HealthPoint’s Response

Share

HealthPoint is on the front lines of the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis. We are a health care home to over 100,000 people annually, 96% of whom have very low incomes and face others barriers to care and health. The coronavirus pandemic will likely extend into the coming months, and HealthPoint is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all our patients and the community.

HealthPoint is responding quickly and doing everything we can to keep patients, staff, and communities safe from COVID-19, the illness caused by coronavirus.

Testing is now being provided for HealthPoint patients at several of our clinic locations in outside tents, to minimize spread of the virus and conserve personal protective equipment (PPE). We've administered over 500 tests to patients, and have the capacity to do more in the coming weeks.

HealthPoint staff are serving from the heart

We're doing more than just providing great care--HealthPoint is stepping up to support our patients with other needs during the COVID-19 crisis.

Staff at HealthPoint Midway, decided to set up an emergency food bank at the clinic.

"I learned that one of our patients who is homeless was having trouble getting food during the coronavirus outbreak, because the restaurants where he usually got food for free from the employees were closed," said Ivonne, Client Service Representative at HealthPoint Midway. "That gave me the idea to start a food drive at our clinic. Many of our staff and community donated food and money to purchase food for our clients. I am so glad I met this patient, because by sharing his experience, we've been able to help many more clients during this crisis by providing food."

Providing care during the crisis

We are moving rapidly to deploy telemedicine and conduct virtual visits to continue providing care to our patients while keeping them safe.

We have made changes to our clinic operating hours and appointment scheduling. For more information visit our coronavirus information page.

Gratitude: community comes together

We are honored to receive a grant from the Cliff Avril Family Foundation to support our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Super Bowl Champion Cliff Avril has supported health and health education since starting his family foundation in 2014. The funds from the Cliff Avril Family Foundation will allow us to purchase temporal thermometers, outdoor tables, and additional personal protective equipment (PPE) for each testing site so we can ensure that our drive-up testing tents are ready to meet patient needs. We are extremely grateful for the Cliff Avril Family Foundation's rapid response to the health needs of our community.

"HealthPoint has been part of our health fair for the past three years. I know they are on the front line of fighting this virus and it was very important for the Cliff Avril Family Foundation to support an organization that is providing another avenue for those affected by coronavirus to be tested in a safe environment for both the patient and healthcare worker." – Cliff Avril, Retired Seattle Seahawk and Superbowl Champion
